L’épicéa est souvent confondu avec le sapin et il est difficile de les distinguer dans les peintures. Appartenant à la famille des Pinacées, les épicéas fournissent un bois de qualité et ont été planté dans toute l’Europe, en particulier ses régions les plus nordiques.
Assimilé au sapin dans la symbolique artistique, il renvoie à la fois à la mort et au renouveau, car il reste vert pendant l’hiver.
The spruce tree is often confused with the fir tree and it is difficult to tell them apart in paintings. Spruces provide quality timber and are found throughout Europe, particularly in the Northernmost regions.
Like the fir tree, the spruce tree symbolizes both death and renewal, as it remains green during the Winter.
