Die Platane ist seit der Antike ein mit der geistigen Welt verbundener Baum, der Parthenon in Athen war beispielsweise von Platanen gesäumt. Die Form seiner Blätter wurde mit der Hand der Götter in Verbindung gebracht und galt als Symbol für Stärke und Regeneration.
